School Start/End Times Survey #2
Last year, the District initiated a community-wide conversation about how to expand the availability of bus transportation, in order to provide service at Happy Valley and Lafayette Elementary; and to alleviate the waitlist at Springhill and Burton Valley. At the same time, we have been interested in supporting the City’s efforts to reduce traffic, improve bike and pedestrian safety, and reduce carbon emissions. In order to permit each bus to do two routes per morning and afternoon, which would allow us to accomplish these goals, it is necessary to adjust school start times so that there is at least 45 minutes between the start of our elementary schools and Stanley. We would appreciate your feedback on this topic.
Please complete this survey to share your thoughts with us. If you would like additional information, here are the presentation materials and Zoom recording from our March 20th, 2024 virtual Town Hall on this subject.
Thank you for your participation!
More InfoServe on Next Year's PTA Board
The PTA is what brings us all our fun-filled community-building events, and it takes a village of volunteers to fill all the roles. It's incredibly rewarding to serve our school community in such a meaningful way and is also a wonderful way to meet new people and make friends. So please consider jumping into a PTA leadership role --- amazing experiences await!
We are seeking two (or three, if you & a friend want to be Co-VPs!) people for the 2024-2025 school year's board:
- Vice President: Primary aide to the PTA president and "in-training" to be the following school year's PTA president (or Co-Presidents!). This role also attends monthly District Rapport meetings with the Superintendent, other LAFSD PTA presidents and VPs, and LPIE president.
- Historian: Typically, a parent serves in this role during their student's 5th-grade year, so if you have a current 4th-grader, this is a great position to consider. During their term, the Historian is responsible for the preparation of the PTA's Annual Historian Report of volunteer hours required by the California State PTA (completed at the end of the school year), Chairs the Honorary Service Awards, and leads the planning of 5th-grade end of year activities.
If you are interested in being more involved at LES, please reach out to parliamentarian@lafayettepta.info.
