SUBJECT: Leopard Spots Oct. 3: Leopard Pride & Gratitude
Oct. 3, 2023
LES Community Walks the Talk!
Get ready as our sighs of relief transform into Shoutouts of Gratitude! THANKS TO YOU, we reached our Walkathon fundraising goal!!! We need a few more days to tally up the classroom and individual winners, but we can't wait to show our appreciation to all of you!
We are incredibly grateful to each of you parents and guardians who signed up your students and sent out donation requests. Your efforts raised the funds needed to support the PTA programs, events and activities that make LES so special!
A Thank You and shoutout are not enough to recognize all the time and effort given by our phenomenal Walkathon Chairs, Effie Casella & Morgan Bernstein. This dynamic duo planned out the entire event, from setting up and managing Pledgestar to coordinating the actual Walkathon (& this is just ONE of many things these two do for our school folks!).
To our incredible Principal, teachers and staff who worked the Walkathon into day plans, cheered on (& in some cases did laps with!) our students, and to the parent volunteers who shepherded students or tracked laps: Without you, the Walkathon couldn’t have been such a successful, safe and fun event! GO LEOPARDS!!!
Find all the walking (& rolling) + other important details for this week below the Need-to-Know and Calendar sections.

NEED-TO-KNOW
Week of 10/2/23
Advocacy Week parent events: - Tuesday: Gun Violence Safety Forum (tonight) - Friday: LPIE & Superintendent “In the Know” Coffee
Walk & Roll to School Day is Wednesday (tomorrow!)
Why: LES is excited to participate in National Walk, Bike or Roll Day to promote health, safety, and pollution/traffic reduction.
How to Participate: Plan your safe route to school and leave a bit early to grab a cool vinyl sticker from one of our volunteers outside designated school entrances for walkers and rollers. In honor of our crossing guards, we encourage you to WEAR YELLOW! We will give them a small gift as a school, and please encourage your kids to write a note of thanks for your crossing guard(s)!
Check out these video tips from our own Roll to School Expert, Mr. Winter!
Spaces are limited, and on a first come first served basis. For questions, please contact Monica Segobia at mguerami@yahoo.com or Erika March at Erika.March@TownHallTheatre.com

Westival is less than 2 weeks away (Saturday, 10/14) and we NEED YOUR HELP!
Please sign up here to contribute items to the bake sale, provide a cake/s for the cake walk, or help with day-of-event volunteer opportunities. Middle school and high school volunteers are highly encouraged - so please share with your older children & their networks!
Not sure what Westival is? Westival is our school's quintessential fall carnival (originally the event had a "western" theme, hence the name: Western + Festival = "Westival"). Click the orange MORE button below for important info!
ResRun is just three weeks away! Please continue tosign upyour friends and family, as LES receives a portion of all fees of registrations that designate LES as their school to support. Are you part of a scout troop? Or maybe you want to complete the 2 mile fun walk as a class? Groups of 10 or more get a discount of 10% off each registration. Please sign upif you already haven’t!
Since the Lafayette Chamber gives back a portion of registrations back to the schools, they are requesting each school recruit 10 total volunteers for either Set-up or Clean Up/Take Down.
Who is LES’s World-Class Social Coordinator (seriously, who else would invite the entire parent party back to her house for an afterparty?!?), with the best outfits and the kindest heart to everyone (parents, students, teachers, staff, strangers) in this community? On the heels of such a fun Parent Party, we shine a spotlight on the amazing Tamara Sosine! Tamara and her just-as-kind-and-fun-loving husband, Jeff, are parents to LES 4th grader Roman and 2nd grader Sasha.
Tamara gives so much of her time & energy to LES as the aide for Ms. Miller’s 2nd grade class and with the PTA, serving as Assistant Treasurer for the past two years, and Parent Party Chair and Grade-Level Parent Socials Chair. We can’t express our appreciation of Tamara enough, both for the time she contributes to the PTA and the school, and for creating a welcoming, generous atmosphere here at LES.
