SUBJECT: Leopard Spots Aug. 15: Welcome Back!

Aug 15, 2023
Principal Barclay with Leo the Leopard and Assistant Principal McArthur
Hooray for the 1st day of school!

We enthusiastically welcome back all returning LES families and give a very warm welcome to our new LES families!

It was so nice to see so many families at Leopard Day! Thank you for being a part of this special school community, full of amazing and caring teachers, staff and families alike.

We are new to the PTA President role, and as far as we know are the first co-Presidents at LES! Andi was the PTA co-Legislative Rep last year and successfully brought back and managed the Scholastic Book Fair. She and her husband, Kevin, have 4th grade twin boys, Adam and Graham. Ria was the PTA Recording Secretary last year, and for the past two years was the Science Fair Chair. Ria and her husband, Marco, have two daughters, Valentina, a 5th grader, and Mila, a 3rd grader.

We feel really lucky to have our children in the Lafayette School District because of its strong focus on providing quality education. Additional fundraising efforts by LPIE, which bridge the lack of public funds, ensure all of our children receive an engaging and well-rounded school curriculum. We have dedicated science teachers, counselors, art and library supports, and teacher aides (and the list goes on!), all because of our support for LPIE. Please read the LPIE message below and reach out to our school reps if you have any questions.

We also have an enriching, fun-filled PTA calendar of events and programming this year, and we can’t wait to begin. You can find more information on these, as well as find volunteer and community-building opportunities on the PTA website, www.lafayettepta.info. We encourage you to check it all out - the more the merrier!

We are so excited for this school year with our exceptional Principal, Melissa Barclay, who will be supported by our wonderful, new Assistant Principal, Chloe McArthur (both pictured above with Leo the Leopard!). We are lucky to have them. Here's to a great year for everyone!

All the best,

Andi Brown & Ria Di Costanzo

The Lafayette ResRun for Education will be on Sunday, October 22nd.

A percentage of all signup registrations go back to the schools, and last year Lafayette Elementary School (LES) received over $5,000.

On top of the money received from registrations, schools also have a chance to win contests to earn an extra $500, and the first contest is “School with the Most registrations by September 30th”.

Can we sign-up as many students, families, neighbors, relatives, etc., of LES by September 30th and give Burton Valley a run for the money (pun intended)?

Link for signup is below: *Make sure to select "Lafayette" from the pulldown menu under "Which School Are You Supporting?" for each individual runner/participant!

Questions? Please reach out to the LES ResRun chair, Ria Di Costanzo (email is in the directory).
