Lafayette School District  Volunteer Requirements for 2025-2026

The district uses "BE A MENTOR," an online portal, to streamline and track volunteer screening.

All volunteers will be required to have TB Screening Clearance AND Live Scan Fingerprinting documentation on file in the Be A Mentor system.  

 

Volunteer fieldtrip drivers will also need to upload their Driver's License and Declaration of Auto Insurance.

 

For instructions on creating or updating your account on the Be A Mentor Website and other common questions, refer to the "Volunteer Requirements" link in the left-hand side menu.

  

Understanding the Importance of Local Support for Our Schools

Did you know that our schools are funded through three main revenue sources: Federal and State funds, local parcel tax, and LPIE donations? Our kids depend on all three, every day. Next year, the current parcel tax is expiring. Lafayette voters will need to vote on a new tax in order to maintain the schools we have today. 

 

It is vital that parents understand this funding balance so we can share what's at stake with our friends and neighbors. Take a look at the slides from the October PTA meeting here - and let us know if you have any questions!
