Open Committee & Chair/Co-Chair Roles

Your Lafayette Elementary Leopards need you!  Consider helping to lead one of the below programs or events for the 2026-2027 school year.
Each role plays an important part in building a strong, connected school community and offers a rewarding & fun way to get or stay involved!

Family & Parent Socials Co-Chair
Plans and coordinates social events for families and parents.
Time Commitment: Varies by event. light planning with a few busier periods
Key Responsibilities: Event planning, identifying & working with hosts for some events, coordinating logistics, promoting attendance.
Frozen Friday Co-Chair
Work with seasoned Co-Chair to organize & help stock, sell Frozen treats on designated Fridays after school in the LES Courtyard. 
Time Commitment: Select Fridays (Sept–Oct, Apr–May). Light prep & logistics mgmt tied to event dates.
Key Responsibilities: Ordering, setup, volunteer coordination. Interact w/happy students!
Lafayette Reservoir Run Chair
Oversees LES participation in Reservoir Run for Education.
Time Commitment: Moderate to high; Oct 2026.
Key Responsibilities: Attend two meetings at the Lafayette Chamber prior to the event, submit blurbs to run in our weekly school newsletter to encourage registration, and recruit 10 volunteers from our school to help with the event.
Cultural Fair
Work with seasoned co-chair to help plan & execute school-wide cultural celebration.
Time Commitment: Moderate to high before event in February 2027.
Key Responsibilities: Coordination, logistics, communication.
Kindness & Community Service
Leads initiatives that promote kindness and organize service opportunities.
Time Commitment: Ongoing with occasional peak activity, including #BEKIND21 in Sept.
Key Responsibilities:Organizing drives/projects, coordinating volunteers, communication
Odyssey of the Mind Chair
Coordinates LES teams’ participation in OM.
Time Commitment: Light to moderate; ongoing during season.
Key Responsibilities: Coordinates/liaisons with OM National & distributes info as needed. Organizes Interest Meeting early fall, helps teams set up/get a coach. Keeps coaches on track throughout prep months. OM Competition event usually in Feb.
Winter Toy Drive
Organizes seasonal toy drive.
Time Commitment: Nov–Dec.
Key Responsibilities: Promote drive to students & families. Manage on-campus Bins for unwrapped toys. Manage collection and distribution logistics to beneficiary organization..
Advocacy Week Chair
Help PTA board Legislative Rep plan and execute Advocacy Week activities.
Time Commitment: Focused around event week (Oct 2026).
Key Responsibilities: Programming, events, family engagement.
One Book One School (OBOS)
Coordination role/s supporting our wonderful Librarians and Principal, who host One Book One School.
Time Commitment: Light to moderate; busier leading up to February 2027.
Key Responsibilities: Promotion, signups, food coordination.
Run Club Co-Chair
Work with a truly delightful & seasoned Co-Chair to organize and manage student run club sessions.
Time Commitment: Fall and Spring Weekly mornings before school - light admin/communication during seasons.
Key Responsibilities: Session support, communication, coordination with Walk-a-thon in the fall. 
No Place for Hate – 4th Grade Parent Rep
Supports student group alongside staff leaders.
Time Commitment: Light; student group meets ~1/month throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities: Communication, coordination. The parent rep is welcome to attend & help at meetings (during lunch recess 12-12:30).
