SUBJECT: Leopard Spots Sept. 19: Do Not Miss Out!

Sept. 19, 2023: Don't Miss Out!
NEED-TO-KNOW
Fundraise & Fun!

Believe it our not, time is running out to prepare for two of our PTA's biggest events, which are both next week: our Walkathon fundraiser & our Parent Party!

This week is the time to set up your student's Walkathon Donations Page via Pledgestar and share it with your family and friends! This is our PTA's biggest fundraiser for our beloved programs and events, and our goal this year is to raise $42,000. Let's go, Leopards! We can do it! Click on the QR code to easily set up Pledgestar!

There's still time to purchase tickets to our Superhero Parent Party. Costumes not required; come as your super-self! New to LES and worried you won't know anyone? We've all been there, and the Parent Party is a great first step in getting to meet more people in the community! Details below.

This week we also have our 2nd General PTA meeting on Thursday, 9/21 @ 6:30 pm in the school library. We are so grateful for our fantastic Principal, Melissa Barclay, who will be leading a discussion at the meeting as a follow up to Devorah Heitner's 9/12 presentation in Lafayette, Growing Up in Public: Coming of Age in a Digital World. Having attended the 9/12 presentation is not required. Mrs. Barclay will share highlights and lead a general discussion on the topic. We'll share our own experiences parenting in this age and learn from one another!

See below for details on all you need to know this week!

Westival Is 1 Month Away!

image_url preview image

For those new to Lafayette, Westival is our school's quintessential fall carnival (originally the event had a "western" theme, hence the name: Western + Festival = "Westival"). Our campus quad area gets transformed into a pumpkin patch decorated with amazing scarecrows created by each LES class (thanks to parent volunteers from each class - please consider volunteering for this fun activity!).

This year, Westival will be held on Saturday, 10/14, from 1pm-5pm.

At the event, LES families can purchase game tickets (with cash or credit cards) to use for traditional carnival games, the always-popular Cake Walk, bake sale, popcorn, face painting and pumpkins to take home!   Separately, families may bid on one of the many creative scarecrows to proudly display in their home or yard.

Westival is a special community-building event, and your participation is highly encouraged. Please be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities in the weeks to come. Have questions now? Please reach out to event chair, Amy Coombe.

COMING SOON: Return of the LES Dads Club

One of the effects of the pandemic was the pause on the LES Dads Club.  But this year, thanks to Gabe Westmaas and Butch Haze, it’s coming back!

"What is Dads Club?" Great Question!  It’s still coming together at LES, but click the "more" button below for insight from our fellow schools.   If you are interested in helping form the LES Dads Club (such as planning a social event) or just participating, leave your contact info here.
