Location/Time: Students will participate during the school day on the LES blacktop
Goal: Raise $37,835 through pledges from family, friends, and community!
Why Participate?
- Support our school! Walk-a-thon is the #1 fundraiser for the LES PTA. Every dollar raised goes directly towards supporting field trips, Westival, Teacher Appreciation Week, end of year grade level field days, the school play and more community building events.
- Fun! All LES students from every grade are invited to walk, run or jog around the LES blacktop during a designated time slot during the school day, while enjoying music and the encouragement of their friends, teachers, and parent volunteers.
- Great Prizes! The more pledges your student gathers, and the more laps they walk, the more chances they have to win exciting prizes, including a class pizza party, Jamba Juice party, and Zoonie’s, Amazon and Target gift cards. More information about prizes below.
How to Get Involved:
- Collect Pledges: Create a fundraising page on Pledgestar and ask family, friends, and neighbors to pledge a donation. The goal per student is $125-150, but no amount is too small! More detailed information about signing up in Pledgestar is below.
- Volunteer: We need enthusiastic volunteers to help on the day of the event. Volunteers are especially needed for Shepherd and Lap Counter (60 mins, 2 per slot per class), plus Set-Up/Clean-Up and Frozen Friday classroom delivery. Please sign up here!

To register on Pledgestar:
Using your computer's browser:
- Go to http://pledgestar.com/lafayette
- Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
- Enter your name and email address, then click “Submit”
- Follow the instructions on-screen to register Jogger(s) and add family and friends
Using your Android or Apple phone or tablet:
- Go to the Apple App Store on IOS or the Amazon App Store on Android and search for "PledgeStar" to download the Family App, or go to https://pledgestar.com/lafayette/downloadapp.html
- On the home screen enter your event code: “lafayette” to locate your event
- Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
- Enter your name and email address, then click “Submit”
- Follow the instructions on-screen to register Jogger(s) and add family and friends
When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends, and allows them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online.

Prize information:
- Pledgestar Prize - Each student who registers on Pledgestar and asks for donations can be entered into a drawing for one of 3 $50 gift cards to Amazon or Target. *Registration must be completed and donation requests must be sent by October 17th (please see above for directions).
- Most Laps Prize - The top 10 students in each grade who complete the most laps will be entered into a drawing (one per grade) for a $50 gift card to Amazon or Target.
- Participation Prize - Every student who participates in the Walk-a-Thon will be entered into a drawing for a $10 Zoonies or Yogurt Shack gift card.
- Pizza Party - The class in each grade with the most laps completed wins a pizza party!
- Jamba Juice Party - The top class with the most money raised will get a Jamba Juice smoothie party!
Sign-up for volunteers will be advertised in the PTA newsletter prior to the Walk-a-thon. More information coming soon!
