SUBJECT: Leopard Spots Sept. 26: Ready for Friday & Saturday??
Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023
Just a few more days to raise $$ for LES & to purchase your parent party tickets!
Fundraising deadline for the Walk-a-thon is this week, and we need a strong push to achieve our goal of raising $42,000 to pay for LES events for the rest of this year! This is LES's only fundraiser in which all funds raised pay for our community events.
So to ensure we fully fund PTA-planned activities, such as the Book Fair, our fall carnival Westival, class field trips, end of year class Field Day parties, Family Socials, Teacher Appreciation Week & Activities, Kindness programs, and the 5th Grade Farewell (+ many more!), please make sure your student/s is set up on Pledgestar, and ask your family and friends for donations. Your student(s) will feel Leopard Pride in Every Stride as they complete laps during the Walkathon in support of their school this Friday!
Please join us this Saturday evening to celebrate the new school year and our awesome school community at the Superhero Parent Party! Costumes are not required, so please don't let that prevent you from coming as your super-self!
October is shaping up to be another action-packed month; see below for details on all you need to know!
Two big events this week to close out September: Student Walk-a-thon (Friday during school day) and Parent Party (this Saturday 6-10pm).
Reflections Art Program is back at LES! Reflections is open to any student.
First two weeks of October are busy!
- Entire first week of October is Advocacy Week at LES!
- Wednesday, Oct. 4 is Walk or Roll to School Day!
- Friday, Oct. 6: LPIE and Superintendent Brent Stephens will host a coffee and present "In the Know" on district funding for parents after drop-off.
- Tuesday, Oct. 10: the 4th/5th Grade Play sign-ups - get your Town Hall Jackrabbit accounts ready as sign-ups fill quickly!
- Saturday, Oct. 14: Block your family calendar to attend Westival from 1pm to 5pm. We need volunteers to help donate to the bake sale and to help at this fun event!
Westival is less than 3 weeks away (Saturday, 10/14) and we need your help! Please sign up here to contribute to the bake sale, cakes for the cake walk, and the many day-of-event volunteer opportunities. Middle school and high school volunteers are highly encouraged - so please share with your older children & their networks!
Not sure what Westival is? Westival is our school's quintessential fall carnival (originally the event had a "western" theme, hence the name: Western + Festival = "Westival"). Click the orange button below for important info!
This is it! Whether you've been to every Run Club or none at all, come out to the blacktop tomorrow at 7:45am for fun, fitness, and friends! This is a great way to prepare for Walk-a-thon. Everyone in the LES community is welcome, and we'll have a name badge for all LES students. You'll be rewarded with sweat, smiles, and some yummy treats for kids (donuts) and adults (coffee). Since this is our final Run Club of the fall, we'll have some extra special sticker prizes for all participants. See you there!
Why: LES is excited to participate in National Walk, Bike or Roll Day to promote health, safety, and pollution/traffic reduction.
How to Participate: Plan your safe route to school and leave a bit early to grab a cool vinyl sticker from one of our volunteers outside designated school entrances for walkers and rollers. In honor of our crossing guards, we encourage you to WEAR YELLOW ! We will give a small gift as a school and please encourage your kids to write a note of thanks for your crossing guard(s)!
Spaces are limited, and on a first come first served basis. For questions, please contact Monica Segobia at mguerami@yahoo.com or Erika March at Erika.March@TownHallTheatre.com

Gabe is an LES Dad to 2nd grader, Hannah, and preschooler, Ian, who will join our LES TK class next year!
Gabe is collaborating with several others to bring back the “Odyssey of the Mind” (OM) program to our school, and he is stepping in to be one of our OM coaches himself. Additionally, Gabe's working with other parents to kick off this year’s LES Dads Club. Outside of his volunteer work in the LES community, Gabe works as an engineering leader at a tech startup in San Francisco. Gabe is married to wife, Amy Truong, and together they enjoy traveling with the family, cooking, and exploring new restaurants.
