Feb. 29 LES Cultural Fair & Potluck

2/19/2024 8:48 pm

It's almost time for the return of the Cultural Fair & Potluck!! If you haven't already, please mark your calendars for February 29th from 5:30 - 7:30pm (it'll be a fun way to spend two of your extra hours on this bonus leap-day!).

As a reminder, this is a FREE event and we would love to see everyone there! If you are already planning on attending, please reach out to a fellow LES family and encourage them to join as well!

While not required, the event is even more fun (and yummy) when families bring a dish/item to share. Here is some additional info for those bringing a dish:

If possible, please arrive at the MPR with your items around 5:15.

There will be a welcome table at the entrance with cards that you can use to fill out some information about your dish/item. Specifically, we'd love for you to share:
  • Item name
  • Allergens (e.g. peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, shellfish)
  • Optional: Region of Origin
  • Optional: Any additional information you'd like to include about your item (e.g. background about the dish, or how the tradition shows up for your family). You can also bring this additional information as a print out, if you'd like!
We have received several questions about the quantities to prepare. Any amount that you are able to bring would be appreciated, but a good target would be 20-30 small (tasting) servings.

Other things to note:
  • Please bring your own serving utensils
  • Plates, forks, spoons and napkins will be provided
  • Please bring food at temperature you'd like to serve it (we will NOT have access to outlets / microwaves to heat up food on site)
We cannot wait to see you all on February 29th!

What is the LES Cultural Fair & Potluck? It's a chance for all of our families to come and share, eat, and enjoy activities that celebrate all the cultures at Lafayette Elementary and in our community.

Prior to Covid, Lafayette Elementary School had the district's longest running Cultural family event, and it was a must-attend gathering. After a 3-year break, it is so exciting to bring this back to our families!
