Leopard Run Club is back after Labor Day!

Fall 2023 Run Club is just around the corner, and we can't wait to lace up and run/walk some laps with you! This season, we're hosting four (4) Run Club events to prepare us for the Walk-a-thon, starting Wednesday, September 6 at 7:45am. Come have some fun with us - REGISTER HERE.

What: Run Club is a fun fitness opportunity, no athletic experience required. Participants start the morning with 5-10 minutes of warm-ups/stretching co-led by a student volunteer, followed by 15-20 minutes of running/walking around the field. Student participants are rewarded with a small weekly prize (e.g., water bottle stickers) and a surprise grand prize at the end.

When: Wednesday mornings in September, 7:45-8:15 AM. Arrive as early as 7:35am to check-in and get your individual QR code (used to track your daily laps). Warm-ups typically begin at 7:50am and the event ends at 8:15am.

Where: Around the Lafayette Elementary School field.

Who: Open to Lafayette Elementary students, parents, caregivers and staff! Please note, this is not a drop-off situation due to liability restrictions. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Adults may choose to participate in the run/walk or watch/help from sideline. Strollers also welcome!

Please register in advance. This will help streamline the check-in process and ensure your student has a QR code to track their laps.

FAQ

What if I don't register, can my student still participate?

Yes, we welcome all Lafayette Elementary students. Pre-registering will ensure your student has a QR code to track their laps and will expedite the check-in process. However, we can count laps manually and add them to the system later.

What are the dates and times for Fall Run Club?

Run Club will take place 7:45-8:15am on four Wednesdays 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27. The Walk-a-Thon will be on Friday, September 29.

What is the format for the event?

Pick-up your individual QR code at the check-in table 7:35-7:50am. We'll start with 5-10 minutes of group stretching and approximately 15-20 minutes to walk/run around the field. The event ends at 8:15am when the playground opens.

Do I have to run to participate?

Our hope is that all student participants will choose to run or walk as a way to build a healthy fitness habit, but water breaks are welcomed and encouraged. Adults may choose to participate or support as a volunteer.

How are laps counted?

We have a subscription to EZ Scan & Training, an app-based tool that scans individual QR codes to keep track of progress.

Do I have to attend all four sessions?

In short, no. We do hope you'll attend as many as possible, but we understand schedules can be unpredictable. If you are unable to join, you may ask another adult (neighbor, family friend) to provide supervision during Run Club that day.

Can a friend act as my child's adult companion?

Yes. An adult name will be required for each child.

Can multiple adults participate with one student?

Yes, we love family participation!

How do I pick up my QR tag?

When you arrive to the field area, you will see a table to "check-in". Tags will be organized by last name.

What entrances will be open at that time?

The entrance by the bikes and the front of the school will be open. The entrance by the library will NOT!

How are distances measured?

This isn't exact but for purposes of this club, 4 laps around field = 1 mile.
